As it was the case
for resilient-seated Butterfly valves replacing Gate valves,
there is now a trend to replace conventional Gate valves
by high-performance Butterfly valves, with evident advantages
of smaller dimensions, lower weight and costs.
Double-eccentric
Butterfly valves (API 609)
These valves are
available in pressure classes 150 lbs and 300 lbs, from
4'' up to 24'' and larger. A wide choice of materials for
body and disc (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys) allows
covering all mediums. The tightness is secured by a seat
in PTFE or metal-to-metal. The valves can be supplied fire-safe
according API 607, are complying to the European directive
97/23/CE, and on request with the ATEX 94/9/CE.
Triple-eccentric
Butterfly valves
These valves are
available in pressure classes 150lbs to 1500lbs, in sizes
4'' up to 48''. A wide choice of materials for body and
disc (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys) allows covering
all mediums. The tightness of the disc on the seat is metal/metal.
Due to its triple-offset design, the tightness is bubble-free
(class VI). The low friction due to its concept allows a
particularly fine regulating function.
Non-slam
check valves
The Non-slam
Check valve with its oscillating disc and its conical
closing seat is particularly well adapted for heavy
duty assignments such as, notably, gas or fluid pipes
at high temperature and / or pressure. It is also
most suitable in the case of use where pulsating movements
of the fluid are recorded.

An
uncontrolled overflow of flammable or toxic fluids can have
devastating consequences for the environment, the equipment
and, not the least, the attending crew. The probability
of accident stays certainly possible despite the new technologies
and the professional training. In an emergency situation,
stopping from the start the flow of such fluids is therefore
essential, and the quicker the better.
